Portland: Beginning Weaving Workshop! Sunday, April 15th

125.00

I'm teaming up with Homespun School to bring you a beginning weaving workshop!

In this 5 hour class you'll learn the fundamentals of weaving on a frame loom from Portland artist Natalie Novak.  During this hands-on workshop you'll learn how to set up your loom, weave simple shapes, create textures and finish your weaving.  We'll cover terms and techniques to help unravel the mysteries of weaving so you can continue on your own with confidence.  Materials will be provided to use during class to start (and maybe finish!) your own woven wall hanging.  You'll leave the workshop with a new skill set and a basic loom kit with all the essentials.

Kits include:

-A simple wooden frame for weaving

-A set of weaving tools: comb/fork, shed stick and needles.

-Enough warp string for your next few projects.

-An illustrated instruction booklet with everything we learned in class.

-A selection of yarns to start weaving with.

Space is limited to 8 students allow for individual instruction.  Light refreshment provided.  We will take a short break midday; you may wish to bring a sack lunch or grab a bite to go from one of the restaurants across the street.

Sign up by April 8th for the early bird discount!  This workshop is non-refundable, but can be transferred to another person or a later class.
