Goodbye Blue World

445.00

I worry that we do not love our Mother Earth like we ought to, that the blue of our waters and sky will soon become only a memory.   I worry that we'll trade the green of our forests and fields for the green of printed money.  I worry that the man who is now in charge of the E.P.A. has a vendetta against that very organization and he does not have the welfare of our environment in his cold, dead heart.  I worry that it's already too late to reverse the damage to the planet and the next generation will experience complete environmental collapse.  I worry that clean air, clean water and an unadulterated food supply will become a luxury commodity in our lifetime.  I worry a lot.  While on some days I am a perfectly optimistic planeteer, there are many other days when I sort my recycling in a haze of existential dread.  This rug was woven with hope for the future and 10% of the proceeds will go to Friends of the Earth, who are helping to preserve this beautiful blue-green marble we call home.

This weaving is part of my collection, Warp of Dissent, which was woven in response to the egregious actions taken by our current government.

Goodbye Blue World was hand woven in Portland, OR on my Rio Grande walking loom from about 95% wool, 2% cotton and 3% mystery yarn on a wool warp.  It measures 29.5 x 50 inches or ~58 in.  with fringe.
